For their sixth album the band chose to work with a producer for the first time ever enlisting the skills of Per Sunding at Tambourine Studios in Malmö.

The new album, a follow up to 2009's more experimental Living Thing release, is a definite return to Peter Bjorn And John's pop roots. So the move to work with Per Sunding – a member of the now defunct Eggstone (a band that was once dubbed "the godfathers of Swedish pop") seemed especially fitting.

"Schnell, langsam, langsam, Schnell - Hell, dunkel, dunkel, Hell"

Die Kölner Elektro-Band MIT bringt mit ihrem zweiten Album 'Nanonotes' eine Platte auf den Markt, die wesentlich reifer wirkt als ihr elektropunkiger Vorgänger. MIT adaptieren auf diesem Werk bekannte Bands wie Kraftwerk, was sich in ihren Stücken auch zielsicher widerspiegelt. Mit „Nanonotes“ veröffentlichen MIT ihren bereits siebten Tonträger und scheinen gleichzeitig ihren Sound gefunden zu haben. Ähnlich wie bei Kraftwerk, bestechen die Songs auf MITs zweitem Album durch ihre kühle und düstere Athmosphäre. Ironischerweise ist es gerade der Song „Nanonotes“, der durch seine eingängigen Melodien und hellen Klangfarben aus dem Konzept fällt. Sonst gilt: Die Technik beherrscht den Menschen, der nur hilflos und roboterähnlich darüber singen kann. Die schwere Stimmung des Albums drängt sich aber niemals auf, sondern lädt nur höflich ein, sich mit ihr treiben zu lassen. Und diese Einladung nimmt der Hörer bei dieser Band dankbar an. Rundum ein gelungenes Album, auch wenn es aufpassen muss nicht an einigen Stellen zu getragen und einschläfernd zu wirken.

Fast ein Jahr ist es nun her, als HURTS auf dem Musik Radar auftauchten und mit ihrem Debüt Video "Wonderful Life" sämtliche Blogeinträge füllten. Was damals schon mehr als semiprofessionell aussah ist heute angekommen im großen Musikgeschäft. HURTS laufen mehr oder weniger auf jeder Radiostation und touren durch die ganze Welt. Quasi täglich ließt man über ihren Facebook Account: "Goodbye Rome, Hello Tokio". Sony bzw. Four Music zieht das Ganze groß auf und so sind HURTS heute nicht nur Musiker, sondern auch Modetrendsetter oder Fashion Vorbilder. Die aus Manchester/UK stammende Band setzt die Erfolgsstorie der dortigen Bands fort und reiht sich nahtlos an Bands wie New Order ein.

This album is awesome, it sounds like 90s chill balearic dance, the album cover really describes the way this record sounds. Chill white beach pants are required when listening to this. Kisses, like the byproduct of a recording session between Morrissey and Studio, creates stellar balearic jams that easily touch on a number of relevant genres-of-the-month, but they do it better than anyone else in recent memory. It’s turf that’s made Cut Copy (and Hot Chip to some extent) a hipster household name and it should have no touble making similar waves for Kisses.

Das Hamburger Trio 1000 Robota attackiert auf seinem Album "Ufo" die Behäbigkeit der alten Leute. So soll es sein

Mit der EP Hamburg brennt und dem Debütalbum Du nicht er nicht sie nicht konnte das damals vor zwei, drei Jahren noch schulpflichtige Hamburger Trio 1000 Robota nicht nur die deutschen Musikmedien begeistern. Auch in London konnte man seinen Exotenbonus für einen kleinen Hype nutzen. Immerhin fallen eventuelle Sprachbarrieren bei den Songs von 1000 Robota kaum ins Gewicht. Jonas Hinnerkort, Sebastian Muxfeldt und Texter und Gitarrist Anton Spielmann singen, brüllen und beschweren sich zwar in deutscher Muttersprache. Die Triebfeder dieser Musik ist allerdings international verständlich.

Mit Gitarre, Bass und Schlagzeug und jeder Menge schlechter Laune greift man das eigene Umfeld ebenso beherzt an wie man das übermächtige abstrakte "System" ohne Rücksicht auf gängige Höflichkeitspraxen attackiert. Wie jetzt auch die neue Songsammlung Ufo nachdrücklich unter Beweis stellt, geht es dieser Band vor allem darum, sich diese jugendliche Aggressivität und Dringlichkeit zu erhalten. Und sei es auch auf Kosten musikalischer Verfeinerung. Musikalisch bewegen sich 1000 Robota hier auf gut abgesichertem Territorium. Wuchtiges Schlagzeug und Bass, manchmal etwas hüftsteif Richtung White Funk schielend, dazu schreddernde und splitternde, höhenlastige Gitarrenriffs, das kennt man unter anderem von den frühen Gang of Four, den großen britischen Altvorderen, wenn es darum geht, (politisch und sozial bewegte) Kampfmusik zu schaffen.

Unter der Produktionsregie von Ted Gaier von den Goldenen Zitronen und Meense Reents (Stella, Goldene Zitronen, Ego Express...) entstanden so zehn auf Angriff programmierte Stücke, die sich nicht an ein imaginäres Wir wenden. Der Hörer wird direkt ins Gebet genommen, die Songs titeln etwa: Fahr weg, Du gewinnst, Wirst du interessant, Geh nicht zu weit. Macht hier der stets als schweigsam rauschende Tonspur laufende hintergründig beklagte Verlust des Gemeinwesens etwa die Künstler schlicht und einfach gemein? Oder ist diese Frontallyrik mangelnden Erfahrungswerten im sozialen Umgang geschuldet?

Es folgt ein Beispiel aus dem titellosen Hidden Track am Ende von Ufo, der sich gegen Tomte-Sänger Thees Uhlmann wendet. Der schmähte 1000 Robota anlässlich ihres sich eben auch gegen deutschen Befindlichkeitsrock wendenden Debüts Du nicht er nicht sie nicht als Kinder reicher Leute und damit als für Rockmusik unglaubwürdig. 1000 Robota: "Ganz ehrlich, wenn ich könnte, dann würde ich deine Kinder adoptieren. Damit sie noch eine Chance haben, gute Menschen zu werden."

Diese Bösartigkeit sorgt in deutschen Musikzirkeln dafür, dass man sich heftig über 1000 Robota zu erregen weiß, was dem Trio medial entschieden zugutekommt. Die seit 24 Jahren aktive Berliner Band Mutter, ein Beispiel dafür, dass man sich bis ins Alter seine Aufsässigkeit bewahren kann, singen auf ihrem neuen Album Trinken Singen Schiessen: "Die Alten hassen die Jungen, bis die Jungen die Alten sind."

1000 Robota ergänzen im Lied Alter Mann: "Ich bin ein alter Mann. Ich find alles gut und beschwer mich nicht mehr. Ich weiß nicht warum, es gefällt mir so sehr. Ich bin ein alter Mann, ich beweg mich nicht mehr. Ich rauch nicht mehr so viel, Hoffnung ist nur ein Wort. Ich bin ein netter Typ. Hass, was ist das?!" Hier haben wir ihn wieder, den Generationenvertrag.

Summer Camp arrived shrouded in mystery in late 2009, members’ identities cloaked in the blithe guise of Swedish teenagers who’d met at summer camp. The shroud disintegrated soon enough, the band revealed to be multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Warmsley and journalist Elizabeth Sankey. But this wasn’t met by some dramatic splintering of intrigue, more the sharpening of anticipation and the feeling of something even greater to come. Less than a year later, the Young EP comes crashing on, bristling with gems from a bygone era where the permanence of relationship drama has been sieved out. The duo’s love for the fuzzy world of 1980s John Hughes movies is paraded for all to see. Squelchy synths, tinny drumbeats and dialogue samples run consistent with Summer Camp’s signature positioning, a spot-lit corner full with awkward couples vying to be the best at being in love.

Sounding like a blend of Foals, Yeasayer and Local Natives, Bravestation's charming five-track EP is certainly worth a listen. After gathering countless positive reviews for their self-titled, recorded and produced effort, the band returned to the studio less than a year after the debut was released, to create a new collection of songs. Made up of brothers Devin (vocals, bass) and Derek Wilson (guitar, vocals), alongside childhood friend Jeremy Rossetti (drums), they only met local Andrew Heppner (keyboards/percussion/engineering) after their move to Toronto. The '2010' EP was written and recorded over the span of six months and the result is an album propelled by a post-indie/punk aesthetic with propulsive bass-lines/drum beats, and heart-felt vocals. The 2010 EP is a self-produced effort with engineering done by Andrew Heppner, and mastering by Ryan Mills.

Over the last few years, San Diego's Lights On have gained much praise as a serious band to watch. What was initially a collaborative creation between Tim Hines and Mike Kamoo of Earthling Studios, LIGHTS ON have grown to become one of Southern California's most promising and impressive bands. Their debut full length "Here Comes The Ocean", is a remarkable album that makes evident that LIGHTS ON are contenders for today’s new indie rock mainstays. The Jerusalem based band ‘Umlala’ is an experimental music project, compromised of five members: Josef Laimon as lead singer and songwriter, Orel Tamuz on guitar, Yuval Goren on bass, Omri Blau on drums and Zohara Niddam on keyboard and vocals. Coming from different musical backgrounds, the band members managed to unite their abilities and inspirations to create a unique sound from which they all draw vast gratification. Umlala literally translates from Hebrew as ‘miserable’. The band chose the name due to the contradiction between the exuberant sound of the word and the expression of their mood. However the atmosphere the band creates when performing far contradicts its name, as they have been able create an
infectious release that has transformed their original state of mind into a sound that leaves no one indifferent. This consistently results in an audience replying to the lead singer’s eternal question: “How do you convert PDF to JPG?” with a powerful “I don’t know!”

French Films are a brand new five-piece Indie Band from Finland. Their first single "Golden Sea," is out now! The band compares themselves to The Drums and Wavves but with a flair for the dramatic out of the catalogue of post-post-punk acts. Angular, beachy guitars compete with soaring vocals and shimmering keys. Another single called "Lift me up" is out now on their myspace page. You should listen. In the next months an EP will come out. The Golden Sea EP is almost mixed & mastered, so you can get it.

Der Putz beginnt zu bröckeln. Der alte Proberaum im Keller diente jahrelang als
zweites Zuhause für David, Felix, Lukas und Maxim. Mit Anfang 20 ist es an der Zeit
auszuziehen. Die Heimat hinter sich und den Vorhang fallen zu lassen.
Das Unmögliche möglich machen - mit diesem Ziel gingen WERNER KRAUSS
letztes Jahr ins Rennen um den Titel als beste deutsche Nachwuchsband. Am Ende
gewannen sie nicht nur das EMERGENZA-Deutschlandfinale, sondern räumten
auch noch den zweiten Platz beim Weltfinale ab. Ein Zeichen dafür, dass deutsche
Bands auch im Ausland ernst genommen und respektiert werden.
Nach mehreren Auftritten in Berlin und London folgt nun das erste Release der
Indie-Electro-Band aus Sachsen. No Need for Understatement ist ein Bekenntnis
zum Leben. Jeder Moment ist ein Baustein des Glücks. Reflektion zum einen und
Antrieb zum anderen. In jedem Fall aber ist er eine Herausforderung, sich dem
Leben zu stellen. Ob der Vergänglichkeit wie bei Hand of Clocks oder der
drohenden Resignation, die WERNER KRAUSS im Song I XXX I beschreiben.

In early 2010, Robbie, Stuart and Martin, having spent time in various bands and musical projects around Dublin, came together to form “Manhattan”. After a long and painstaking search for a bassist seemed to have failed, along came Kevin to fill the prestigious role of bass player and Manhattan was complete. All 4 members have different influences, ranging from obscure hardcore Hungarian techno to mainstream rock and pop, from old school Rock and Roll to old school “Motown” & soul, and bring these influences into their music. Horse Shoes is an indie pop group that draws inspiration from 80's alternative pop bands like The Smiths, New Order, and more contemporary groups like Starflyer 59. The culmination of these influences is sublime chiming pop music with a smidge of the irony and emotion of Morrissey and all of the gentle ringing melodies and fragile vocals one might find similar to early New Order. Horse Shoes originaly came from Orlando/Florida are now living in Brooklyn, N.Y. Drew Diver and Jacob Graham said this about themselves: "We both grew up listening to The Smiths nonstop and we’ve spent our entire lives trying to write the strongest melodies we possibly could."

The Drums begeistern derzeit die Musikszene und treten laut NME eine neue amerikanische Welle von Bands los, die über den großen Teich schwappen. Wer vom NME als next "Best Thing" bezeichnet wird, muss irgendwie was auf dem Kasten haben. Obwohl auf ihrem gleichnamigen Album aber nur vier wirklich neue Songs zu finden sind, ist es im Endeffekt doch ein gutes erstes Album, denn nicht jeder kennt sich wirklich so gut mit Musik aus, als dass er oder sie schon alle älteren Songs kennen. Das Drums Debütalbum ist eine Mischung aus melodischen, synthigen Songs mit einem Gesang von Jonathan Pierce, der an die Smiths erinnert, aber auch ruhigeren Nummern a la 80s Pop, die irgendwie an Stimmung vermissen lassen. Sicherlich berauschen die Drums auf ihrem ersten Album nicht so wie auf ihrere ersten EP die locker, leichten Surfrock bietet und leider fehlt auch mit "I Felt Stupid" einer ihrer besten Songs, aber trotzdem steht die Platte noch gut da, wenn man sie mal isoliert von allen EPs, die vorher erschienen sind, betrachtet und so tut als wäre es die erste veröffentlichung der Drums.

Soetwas nennt man wahrscheinlich Multitalent. Die dritte Band mit Beteiligung von David Alexander ist dabei genauso multi. Schließlich stammen die vier Mitglieder aus jeweils vier verschiedenen Ländern. US, Norwegen, Schweden und Frankreich sind es um genauer zu sein und so verwundert es nicht, wenn die Band auf ihrer Myspace Seite als Status "Lost in Translation" angibt. Musikalisch hebt sich das Projekt von D. Alexander's anderen Bands DIAL M for murder! und DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON wiederum ab. Diesmal geht es poppiger, folkiger zur Sache. Eine Single wurde bereits veröffentlicht und diese Stelle ich euch hiermit auch vor, passt sie doch sehr gut in die sommerlich, fröhliche Stimmung dieser Tage! Viel Spaß beim Hören

Als die englischen Foals 2008 mit ihrem Debütalbum Antidotes die britischen Charts stürmten und damit auf Platz 3 der UK Album Charts landeten, konnte noch keiner ahnen, wie sich die Band entwickeln würde. Fortan fuhr die Band auf einem sogenannten Math-Rock Fahrwasser und trieb eine mehr oder weniger neue Musikrichtung
voran, die Indie Musik mit Minimalistischen, Elektronischen Klängen verband. Heute wird dagegen jedem klar, der das Nachfolgealbum "Total Life Forever" gehört hat, dass die Foals mehr sind als Math-Rock. Wenn sie es überhaupt (noch) sind. Reifer, breiter und viel erwachsener präsentieren sich die Briten auf ihrer neuen Platte. Gleißender die Sounds, harmonischer als je zuvor und Stimmungsvoll wie man sie noch nie erlebt hat. Ein Album für die Charts könnte man meinen, unbewusst stimmt das sogar, denn die Scheibe hat derart viel Potential, dass sie ihren Vorgänger in vielen Facetten überragt. Sicherlich treten die Foals nicht mehr den Hype wie 2008 los, aber sie präsentieren sich auf dem Musikparkett als eine gewachsene, etablierte Band, die einfach gute Musik macht und die man beachten sollte!
